This article list the common questions related to Jostle's Google integrations. For Google-integrated platform setup, process, and procedure information, please refer to this Category.
Is it possible to integrate with more than one Google domain?
Yes, It is possible to have Google integration with more than one Google domain if they are in the same Workspace. If you have more than one Google Workspace, users can login with their Google credentials, but the system won’t be able to sync data with other Workspaces.
I don’t want all my Google users to be added to Jostle, how can I do that?
To accomplish this a Google Administrator will need to assign the Jostle app to only the Google users they want to add in Jostle (this is done via Google Org Units). Then, in Jostle, a System Admin needs to:
- Go to: Admin Settings > User Data to/from Other Systems > Import Users from Google Workspace Domain
- Click the link "Have Jostle turned off for some Google users?"
- Select the option: “Only import Google domain users which Jostle platform is turned on for”.
When I delete a Google account, the Jostle account is not deleted, why?
Users cannot be deleted with Google auto sync. If a user is removed from Google, that user will still have to be manually removed from Jostle. However, there is an option to automatically disable the user account in Jostle once it is deleted in Google(no longer in your Google domain). To accomplish this a System Admin can go to Admin Settings > User Data to/from Other Systems > Import Users from Google Workspace Domain > check "Disable in Jostle (profile will remain)" under "Manage users in Jostle with Google IDs but no longer in your Google domain".
How can I immediately add new users to Jostle from Google?
To immediately add new Google users to Jostle (without having to wait for the next sync) a Jostle System Admin can go to Admin Settings > User Data to/from Other Systems > Import Users from Google Workspace Domain and click Import.
I have some suspended accounts in Google, how can I exclude them from the import?
To exclude suspended Google accounts during imports:
- In Jostle, a System Admin should go to Admin Settings > User Data to/from Other Systems > Google Workspace Import Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on "Need to import suspended Google users?" at the bottom of the first section.
- Then, on the next page, select “Exclude Suspended Google accounts” and then Save.
Can I automatically add the users from Google to Jostle, but invite them later?
Yes, to accomplish this a Jostle System Admin can
- Go to Admin Settings > User Data to/from Other Systems > Google Workspace Import Settings.
- Uncheck the Invite All option (under Import New Users).
This will import the users but they won’t be sent Invites to log into Jostle.
I have set Jostle as the master, but why does the user remain in Google when I delete a Jostle user account?
Google users cannot be removed via auto sync. If a user is removed from Jostle, the user will still have to be manually deleted from the Google workspace.
I see that we can disable a user in Jostle once the user is suspended in Google. What happens if I activate the user back in Google?
If the user is reactivated in Google, they will need to be manually re-activated in the Jostle to enable the access to Jostle. To do this, a System Admin can go to Admin Settings > User Accounts and Data > Edit, Re-invite, Disable Users.
Can I invite a user from a different Google workspace (or Gmail account) and invite them to login with their Google credentials?
Yes, users from different Google workspaces can be added in Jostle and login with their Google Credentials. Keep in mind that these users won’t be synced as they aren't part of the Google Workspace integrated with Jostle.
Can we sync all the user’s data from Google to Jostle?
Only certain Google fields are synced to Jostle. Please see this article to view all the data fields that are synced.
Can we create org charts from Google?
While there is currently no sync option to import org structure from Google to Jostle, the same results is available by manually downloading users' info from Google via CSV file. This process is explained here.
I have a Google-integrated platform. Can I change the login method from Google Credentials to SSO?
Yes. To do this, set up the SSO integration on your end and then send the Federation Metadata file to Jostle support (support@jostle.me). We will apply the file in the system and your users will be automatically converted from "Google Credentials" to "SSO" (no new invite needed). Jostle password users won't be affected.
