The intent of Activity is to bring everyone in your organization together, in the moment. It's a place to keep in touch, support each other, and share small experiences.
News Editors manage the Activity feed
News Editors manage the Activity Feed that appears to the left of News. They can delete posts, set who can post, and export the content of the feed. See this article for how.
System Admins set up Activity feed
System Admins set up some aspects of the Activity Feed that appears to the left of News. They can:
Enable/Disable the Activity feed
System Admins can add or remove the Activity Feed from the platform at Admin Settings > Views and Functions > Manage Views and Options.
Set up integrations that post to the Activity feed
Learn more about how to post KPI's and other content from other systems into the Activity Feed using our API or our Zapier integration here.
Set up how Work Anniversaries and Birthdays are recognized
Anniversaries will auto-publish for Users that have a Join Date entered in their User Profile. System Admins set up which Anniversary years get posted by going to Admin Settings > Views and Functions > Configure Anniversaries of Join Dates.
Birthdays also auto-publish for Users that have a Birth Date entered in their User Profile. The birth year is not revealed. To prevent birthdays from appearing in Activity, simply clear the Birthday field in the user’s profile.
Enable peer-to-peer recognition via Bonusly
System Admins can enable our Bonusly integration so that Users can award Bonuses to each other in the Activity Feed.
Set up the Org Values used in Shout-Outs
Where Org values appear
Organization (Org) values are keywords people can use in Activity (the feed on the left side of the News view) when recognizing a fellow coworker, team, or group in a Shout-Out. Users can select an Org Value from the For: drop-down menu when posting a Shout-Out to Activity. This provides a great way for leadership to example your organization's values in action!
Setting up your Org Values
System Admins set up your Org Values at Admin Settings > Views and Functions > Configure Organization Values.
Default Org values
Org Values are not enabled by default. We have seeded a list of values for your consideration. You can edit this list and save it. The Org values will not appear for use when publishing a Shout-Out until you have checked, Enable Organization Values.
Considerations and rules for writing Org Values
When setting up Org Values, the System Admin should consider that they"
- Can contain any character or symbol
- Can contain emojis
- Cannot contain spaces, commas, or hashtags within (i.e. #hash#with#tag)
- UPPERCASE and lowercase are both acceptable (i.e. #TeSt and #test)
- The character limit for each individual Org value is 40 characters
- Org Values will be displayed in the order they’ve been written in the input
- The maximum number of Org Values you can enter is 12, although end-users will be able to input their own custom-value in the act of giving a Shout-Out
A list of Org Values is optional
Your organization doesn’t have to have a list of Org Values. System Admins can delete the list of Org values from the text input on Admin Settings > Views and Functions > Configure Organization Values and enable Org values. This removes dropdown list of Org Values from the Shout-Out popover menu but still offers a text input for Users to write a #custom-value when publishing a Shout-Out.
