How to start and seed group Discussions in Jostle

Launching the Discussions view in your organization and worried no one will come to the party? We can help.

Take the lead and set up separate Discussions for groups in the organization that collaborate frequently, like your social committee or executive team. Provide a few lines in the beginning of the chat to introduce the space. Let them know this is a productive place for collaboration and teamwork. Discussions view is intended to free them from their overflowing inboxes and confusing email chains.

For special interest topics, Discoverable Discussions are your answer. These anyone can opt into if they are interested. For example, you might start ones for "Dog lovers" and another for "Release notes".

Once you have invited users and seeded the introduction content, remove yourself from the chat by:

First adding one or more Moderators, by:

  1. Clicking on the Action Menu (three dots) top right
  2. Selecting Edit Discussion
  3. If the person you want to make a Moderator is not listed, search them in and add them
  4. Click on Actions to the right of the person's name
  5. Select Make Moderator

Then removing yourself from the Discussion by:

  1. Clicking on the Action Menu (three dots) top right
  2. Selecting Edit Discussion
  3. Click on Actions to the right of the your name
  4. Select Remove
