How to reset passwords in Jostle

There are several options for resetting user passwords.

Forgotten password: User self-reset

If a user has forgotten their password, the quickest and best solution is for them to click "Forgot your Password?" on the login screen (which you can point them to via this link: https://login-prod.jostle.us/login.html).  Further details can be found here

Administrative reset

If you are a System Admin you can reset the password for an specific user or for everyone.

Resetting an individual's password

If you have a security issue that requires someone update their current password:

  • If the user is using a SSO or Google credentials, their password needs to be updated in that system
  • If the user is using a Jostle credentials, then a System Admin can push a password update by:
  1. Going to Admin Settings > User accounts and data > Edit, Invite, Disable users
  2. Searching for the user and then click EDIT next to their name
  3. On the right side, towards the bottom click the Send a Password Reset Email button

Resetting everyone's password

If you have an issue that requires all users update their passwords, go to Admin Settings > Governance > Manage login controls and click the Reset Passwords found at the bottom of the screen. This feature will require that users enter their old password first.

Ensuring secure logins

System Admins can choose to enforce strong passwords for those using Jostle credentials, as well as have users change their passwords after a certain number of days. To do either of these:

  1. Go to  Admin Settings > Governance > Manage login controls
  2. Scroll down to Password settings
  3. Enter and/or enable your settings then click Save

We also suggest ensuring users use a password management tool. People can then set strong passwords and use the tool to organize and store them, so they don't need to remember their passwords.

Blocking user access

If a System Admin suspects there is a security issue with a specific user they can disable their login as described below. This works with both Jostle, SSO, and Google login credentials.

  1. Go to Admin Settings > User accounts and data > Edit, Invite, Disable users
  2. Search for the user and then click EDIT next to their name
  3. On the right side, select Disabled or Suspended under Login Status
  4. Click Save Changes at the top

Resending the invite/activation email

System Admins can resend an Invite email to a users that have not activated their account.

If the invitation was sent, but the user didn't receive it, check this article.

Note: Generating a new invite email will invalidate any previous invites sent to that user.
