Info tab in your User Profile
The Info tab is where you set your basic, personal information. Click Edit in the upper right corner and from there you can add a nickname and make it your preferred name, indicate your preferred personal pronouns, provide your birthday, job title and contact information and much more. Key Info fields include:
Primary Role
Your Primary Role is your main Role within your organization. Your Roles are defined via the org charts set up in Teams view. If Teams does not show on the Main Nav Panel, you will not have a Primary Role.
You may have multiple Roles, but your Primary Role designates your most important (or best referenced) Role. Unless otherwise defined, your Primary Role will default to the highest main-hierarchy Role defined in Teams view, but can be specified to be any defined Role. If you organization permits it, you will be able to select which of your Roles is the Primary Role on the Info tab of your User Profile.
If your Primary Role gets renamed, it’s still your Primary Role.
Job Category
Job Category is a field that will only appear if used by your organization. It is intended for broad job categories and not for a specific Role or job title. If your company categorizes jobs into families, such as Engineer I, Engineer II, etc. then this is where that designation belongs. Someone with a Job Category Engineer II might have a Role as Project Engineer on the Beta Project Team. Most often this field should not be used, at which point it will not appear in Contributor Profiles. Job Categories can be found via Search.
Contact
The Contract section sets out all the ways to reach you can be found. For the phone number fields, if you have an extension, you can simply append it to your phone number, per these examples:
- 555-123-4567 ext231
- 555-123-4567 pp231
- 555-123-4567;231
Some fields are organization controlled, so you will have to contact your System Admin to make changes to them (Main Nav Panel > Help > Contact your admin).
You can also share you meeting links from Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or Zoom, or how to connect with you in messaging apps such as Slack or Microsoft Teams, by filling these in under the phone number section. For each, you will need to provide a label and a URL link.
Controlling who can see your Information
When you enter additional email address(es), phone number(s) or other contact information, their visibility is automatically set to Everyone.
Where appropriate, you can change the visibility setting on certain specific fields to Nobody of Direct Relations.
Nobody make a field visible to only yourself and System Admins. Other users viewing this field in your Profile will see "Viewing permission withheld".
Direct Relations restricts the field visibility to yourself, System admins, and any users that you are on a Team with (as defined in Charts in Teams view).
Bio tab in your User Profile
Your Bio tab contains your professional information. Click Edit in the upper right corner on the Bio tab and you can add your qualifications, interests and pictures, which help make your profile rich. Building out this section will allow people to find you via Search, according to your skills, qualifications, and interests.
Roles tab in your User Profile
Information on all the Roles you currently hold within your organization will be found here. These are all defined via Charts in Teams view. If your organization does not use Teams view, you will not have the Roles tab.
Files tab in your User Profile
The Files tab is where you attach files in your Profile. You can upload up to 100 files.
Any documents you add here will be indexed for Search. Upload a specialized study you did and you will be found for that knowledge via Search.
