Did you know that in some parts of the world, what is actually a turnip is regularly referred to as a rutabaga, and vice versa? Which seems rather inconsiderate once you know that the rutabaga only came into existence as a result of a turnip being crossed with a cabbage.

And it really can't be doing wonders for the turnip's ego to be constantly misidentified as a rutabaga, which is technically its own offspring. I mean, imagine if the situation was about people—do you think, say, Kris Jenner would like it if people kept calling her "Kim Kardashian"?


Um, okay…bad example. She would probably LOVE that. But you get my point.
