Logging in with Biometrics

Note: This feature is available to users who log in using a username and password. It is not available to those who log in with SSO.

Biometric Login (or biometric authentication) is a more convenient method of logging in to your Jostle password accounts on iOS and Android devices.

The organization will need to enable biometric login via Admin Settings > Governance > Manage Login Credentials. Users will need a supported device and the latest Jostle App installed.

Enabling biometric login

Users who log in to Jostle using a username and password will be prompted to use biometrics as the default login method. Tap “Yes” to enable it.

After tapping “Yes”, the mobile app will continue setup by prompting you to scan your face or fingerprint.

If you selected “No” when prompted to enable Biometrics, and you’d like to enable it, do the following:

  1. Open your mobile app, click Menu in the bottom right.
  2. Click the action menu by your name and open My Preferences.
  3. Check the box to Enable Biometric login.

After checking the box, you’ll be prompted to log out. When you log in, you’ll be prompted to setup your Biometric login.

Note—for Android devices, face recognition is only supported on Class 3 devices. Additionally, if you have the Jostle app installed using your “Work” profile, your IT department must have Biometrics login enabled.

Disabling biometric login

If at any time you’d like to disable Biometric login, you may browse to “My Preferences” and uncheck the “Enable Biometric login” option.

Logging in with a different account

If you have multiple accounts that you log in to from your mobile device, on the login screen, you can tap “Login with Email and Password”. This will then provide you with the familiar inputs for your email (username) and password to be entered.

Logging in with a different account will erase your current biometric login credentials, i.e., you may only setup biometric login for one account at a time.

Note—Biometric login is supported “per device”, meaning that if you use multiple devices for one or more accounts, you must set up biometrics on each one.
