How to assign administrator roles in Jostle

In addition to the System Admins, each most views have their own there administrative roles:

  • News:  News Editors and News Reporters (News Editors also administrate Activity)
  • Events: Event Managers and Event Creators
  • Library: Category Librarian and Volume Librarian
  • Teams: Teams Category Admin and Chart Admin
  • Listings*: Listing Managers and Listing Creators

*view name can be renamed by System Admins

By having granular control of administrators, allows different subject matter experts to each take ownership of their part of the platform. Not only does this divide up the work, it helps connect your organization and provides a user experience that a single administrator cannot provide.

News

News Editors

  • Add, edit, and remove their own News Items
  • Edit and remove any Reporter’s Items
  • Publish any Reporter’s drafts
  • Manage News Categories
  • View stats and export Social Sharing metrics
  • Integrate Twitter (Activity)
  • Control who can post Updates (Activity)
  • Export feed (Activity)

News Reporters

  • Add, edit, and remove their own News Items
  • View stats (on their own Items)
  • Export Social Sharing metrics

Events

Event Managers

  • Add, edit, and delete their own Events
  • Edit or remove any Creator’s Events

Event Creators

  • Add, edit, and delete their own Events

Library

Category Librarians

  • Add Volumes
  • Assign Volume Librarians
  • Move Volumes (between Categories they are a Librarian for)
  • Edit Volume Visibility
  • Block downloading of Volumes

Volume Librarians

  • Add files
  • Move files (within a Volume they are a Librarian for)
  • Edit Volume name and description
  • Export usage stats
  • Download files to .zip

Teams

Teams Category Admins

  • Create/delete Charts
  • Add/remove Chart Admins
  • Move Charts (between Categories they are the administrator for)
  • Edit Category details
  • Manage Category settings

Chart Admins

  • Edit Chart and Chart details
  • Enable “Add yourself” option
  • Enable “Down hierarchy” editing
  • Export Chart

Listings

Listing Managers

  • Add, edit, and delete their own listings
  • Edit or remove any Creator’s listings
  • Manage Classifieds Categories

Listing Creators

  • Add, edit, and delete their own listings
