There are two approaches to customizing the login URL that your Users see: adding a subdomain or applying a CNAME redirect. Here's how...
Subdomain
Jostle can create a subdomain that will appear in your browser’s address bar after logging in. It will be in the format of https://yoursubdomain.jostle.us.
A System Admin should email support@jostle.me to get a subdomain implemented. Just let us know what you’d like it to be (it needs to end in jostle.us).
Notes:
- If you previously set up a CNAME, then the subdomain will need to be different from that.
- For new customers, a subdomain will be automatically created for you upon your instance creation.
- It's easy to change your subdomain; just let us know, as described above.
Important: This will break existing internal links to your Jostle instance. We will update the majority of the internal links to include the new subdomain, but any internal links sent externally will need to be updated by you. This included resending any pending invite emails.
Notes:
- Your mobile app users will need to reinstall the Jostle mobile app, as follows:
- Users will need to reset certain cookie-based settings within the Jostle applications, such as the Allow Paragraphs checkbox in Discussions.
- For customers with JostleTV (Amazon Firestick version), you will need to clear the JostleTV app's data and cache and re-link the program again.
CNAME redirects
Jostle allows you to create a CNAME redirect to our application. This allows you to create a custom URL to give out to your users.
To set up a CNAME redirect, please follow these steps:
Set up a CNAME redirect from your.new.domain to yoursubdomain.jostle.us
-
Send an email to support@jostle.me with the following:
Your new domain
Confirmation that you have set up a CNAME redirect on your end
Limitations to this approach:
- CNAMES don't redirect HTTPS. This simply means your users will enter http://your.new.domain into their browser's address bar instead of https://your.new.domain. Once the request reaches our servers we redirect it to a secure HTTPS connection.
- Once your users log into Jostle, the address reflected in the browser address bar will be our standard platform URL.
