How to use the main navigation in Jostle

The Main Nav Panel for sits on the left side of the application. It allows you to quickly navigate to the main parts of the platform and indicates where you currently are.

Key functions (views)

The central section of the Main Nav Panel sets out all the main functions (views). Each of these is a single goto place that is optimized to its function. These main views are:

  • Search
  • Tasks
  • News
  • Events
  • Discussions (chat)
  • People (visual employee directory)
  • Library (knowledge base)
  • Teams (org charts)
  • Listings (a list of offers or items that you can buy or take)

Note: Your organization might not have all these enabled, or might have renamed some of these views.

Key destinations

Just below the main functions (views) in the Main Nav Panel are Links and two Custom Views. Again, your organization might not have these enabled, and likely has given them customized names.

Links provides a quick way to jump to other resources and enterprise tools.

Custom Views will be customized to the exact need of your organization.

About you

User Profile

Click on your Profile image in the bottom section of the Main Nav Panel to access your User Profile. Building this out will help your colleagues get to know you, and find you when they are searching for your skills and interests.

My Preferences

Click on the Action Menu (three dots) to the right of your name on the Main Nav Panel to set your preferences or log out.

User Status

Click on "Set a status" just below your name on the Main Nav Panel to let people know what your are up to or when you are not available. If you don't see this, your organization has not enabled this feature.

To remove your status, click on your current status just below your name on the Main Nav Panel.

Tip: When you have a status set, you can also clear it by opening your Profile and clicking the "Clear current status" button under your Profile photo.

Getting help

Click on Help near the bottom of the Main Nav Panel to ask for help, visit our Support Center, review our Release Notes, or check on the status of our systems.

Admin Settings

If you are a System Admin you will be able to access our Admin Settings just under Help on the Main Nav Panel. Admin Systems is where you configure the platform, manage user accounts, set up integrations, and gain access to extensive metrics.

The Action Menu just to the right of "Admin Settings" provides System Admins with quick access to these functions:

  • Org-wide Preferences (Sets the default settings in My Preferences for new Users)
  • Create a new User
  • View Engagement Metrics
  • Download Platform Metrics
  • JostleTV Settings

Resource Center 

You can access our Resource Center via the circle icon at the bottom of the Main Nav Panel. Here you will find information and tutorials to help familiarize yourself with the different views and roles across the platform. System Admins will also be able to use the Resource Center to track the status of any active feature trials they may be running.

It also provides access to our Feature Request Form where you can submit suggestions for improvements and/or new features you’d like to see in the platform.

The Resource Center always displays content that is user-relevant, so feel free to explore and see what's there to discover!

Note: Ad/pop-up blocking browser extensions can interfere with the functionality of the Resource Center, so be sure to have them turned off for Jostle.

Action Bar 

While not part of the Main Nav Panel, the Action Bar exists across the platform and is another key component for navigating the platform.

Located at the top of the screen, it provides different options depending on what view you are in. These come in the form of menus represented by filters, and other icons.
